A DAY BOAT TRIP TO VISIT BAN CHARN POTTERY, BAN XANG KHONG PAPER MULBERRY, XANG HAY WHISKY VILLAGES AND BUDDHA CAVES.

 Your experienced local guide will meet you at your accommodation, pick up is approx.8:30AM. From there you will head to the boat pier, ‘slow’ boat, to visit Ban charn pottery village. There you will watch local people making pots, jars and many other kinds of traditional items and you will have an opportunity to purchase hand crafted gifts and souvenirs. From the pottery village you’ll get back on the boat and cruise along the mighty Mekong River, taking in the unique sight and surrounding of the Mekong River banks.

  Our tour continues on to visit famous village of Ban Xang Hay. Here you will see how the local craftspeople make traditional Lao whisky, which was previously exported to Luang Prabang. There you will get the opportunity to simple and purchase the local produce, and to try the three different varieties of traditional Lao whisky – if you’re brave enough! From the whisky village you reboard the boat and cruise approx. 30 minutes to Pak ou caves in time to stop at a nearby restaurant for lunch.

  After lunch you will visit the incredible Pak Ou caves, including spectacular Tham Thing cave. The ancient Pak Ou cave system, (‘Pak’ meaning mouth, ‘Ou’ meaning River) has significant spiritual and religious meaning to the Laos people. Especially during Lao New Year celebrations, where it’s used in ceremonies to bring good luck. Our tour will see this influence first-hand from the thousands of images of buddha lining in the cave as you explore both the lower and upper cave systems with the help of experienced local guides who will help you navigate your way through the amazing cave and River systems.

  Once finished at the caves you will reboard the boat and gently cruise back down the Mekong River for approx. 1 hours, returning to Luang Prabang city. There your guide will accompany you back to your accommodation and the rest of the evening is yours to explore Luang Prabang city.
